The VSDX file format is a Microsoft Visio file format used to store digital drawings created with Microsoft Visio. This file format was introduced in Visio 2013, replacing the legacy VSD format. VSDX files are based on the Office Open XML (OOXML) standard for data interchange and can be explored using a ZIP file utility, as the contents of a VSDX file are stored in XML-based files stored in a ZIP container. They can be read and edited with Microsoft Visio as well as with other 3rd party applications such as Microsoft Visio Viewer and Draw.io. Compared to its predecessor, the VSDX file format offers a number of advantages, including improved compatibility and support for new features such as data linking, saving time and resources in keeping diagrams up-to-date. It also supports improved visuals such as shape gradients, shadows, and reflections, and is capable of storing data in 10 languages. Overall, the VSDX file format is a significant improvement over the legacy VSD format, making it a great choice for creating, sharing, and collaborating on diagrams.
